Selby Competition in May 2014

On Sunday the 4th May 2014, the club took a small Squad to York to compete in the Selby Novice Competition. The event is run by Paul Brant Sensei, and always proves to be a great way for our less experienced competitors to gain experience on the Tatami. As always, the event was run superbly under the watchful eye of Alan Campbell Sensei, and on this occasion, Geoff Dixon Sensei who is a very experienced /excellent referee. All club members were a credit to both themselves and the club.

A special thank you to those who travelled to support and cheer on their fellow club mates! Congratulations to Vinny Issacs who won the Senior male Kumite event. Vinny’s family were also in attendance to witness his victory! Scott Haxby won Gold in Kumite, Gold in Kata, and Silver in the family event. Scott is a member of both Selby and Akashi Shotokan, so it is only fitting he should have a mention, congratulations! Full list of competitors were: Vinny Issacs, Scott Haxby, Naota Yuasa, Kai Yuasa, Terese Dean, Sam Oppal, Archie Oppal, Dylan Bharj, Vincent Munnelly, Jordan Issac, Taylor Issac, Arad Oustovari, and Jack Gallagher. Referees: Ian Gallagher and Mehrdad Kanani. Well done all!
